Overview of Pesticide Certification & Licensing Program

The Pesticide Certification Section of the Bureau of Compliance Monitoring handles pesticide applicator certification and licensing to authorize the purchase and use of restricted use pesticides in agricultural and related sites.  This includes the following categories of pesticide use:

Private applicator agriculture

Commercial and public categories:

aerial application (agricultural)

ornamental and turf

agricultural animal

raw agricultural commodity fumigation

agricultural row crop

regulatory inspection and sampling

agricultural tree crop

regulatory pest control

aquatic pest control

right-of-way pest control
chlorine gas infusion

seed treatment

demonstration and research

sewer root control

forest pest control

soil and greenhouse fumigation

natural areas weed management

wood treatment

organotin antifouling paint

Certification and licensing for the following types of pesticide use are NOT handled by the Bureau of Compliance Monitoring: structural pest control (residential and commercial), lawn and landscape maintenance around buildings (residences and commercial structures), mosquito control and other public health pest control.    For information on these programs, go to Bureau of Entomology and Pest Control.
